Life is beautiful.
Some see it in the way the breeze blows through trees of green leaves, dancing merrily on a sunny day. Some see it in the way water trickles and flows, how it drops down the rocks in endless splashes as the river runs on. Some see it in the foods they eat; colorful arrangements, mouth-watering flavors composed to perfection. Some see it in the vastness of the world, enormous caverns, mountains the spear the sky, lakes that have no shore, forests with no ends in sight. Some see it in the smiling faces of the ones they love, the way the eyes wrinkle in certain places, how the lips turn just so.
This beauty fills observer with joy, peace, gratitude, love. For some, it provides passion, meaning, and purpose. For all of those who find beauty, the question arises: how do I keep it?
Some capture it on canvas with paints and pencils. Some ensnare it in a camera. Some put it down as song, others in words. And, while effective to some extent, there is a moment-ness of beauty that simply cannot be held onto, no matter how hard one tries.
It’s possible to show a leaf being blown by a breeze, but impossible to feel it. It’s possible to show a picture of a vast mountain range, but another to stand at its feet. It’s possible to hear the emotions from a soul-wrenching melody, but difficult to memorize.
Often, it’s in our very attempts to constantly hold on to certain beautiful moments that we end up missing out on so many more.
Life, therefore, as all the sages throughout history have known, is about living. Beauty, is in being aware of the life being lived. It’s in the continuing to see, hear, taste, touch, and experience all that this beautiful world has to offer. It is in protecting that life that we can perpetuate beauty, so that those who come after us can experience it too.
Life is beautiful.
Don’t miss it.
